Prolonged Cross Leg Sitting Issues | Why You Must Avoid Sitting Crossed...







There are four major reason why you should not sit in cross leg position for long hours.



1- Back pain-

Prolonged crossed leg sitting may cause back pain as while sitting with crossed legs it causes our hips to slightly twist which causes misalignment and imbalances your pelvis . Due to habit of prolonged cross leg sitting for hours it may end in developing back pain or herniated disc.



2- Spider veins or Vericose veins-

sitting with cross leg it may cause spider veins or varicose veins, main reasons attributes to this are genetics and long standing but sitting for long hours it increases pressure in your veins, this causes veins to get weak and may result to spider veins. People who are at high risk of blood clots are strictly advice not to sit crossed leg position for prolonged hours as it increases risk for deep vein thrombosis.



3- it may rise your blood pressure temporarily. It will not cause any medical emergency but acc to a study cross leg sitting for prolonged hour raises your blood pressure slightly. It may happen because muscles and vessels in your legs  get squeezed and blood is pushed toward heart.



4-Prolonged cross leg sitting may cause nerve impairment, sciatica nerve stretches from lower back to the end of leg, while in lower leg one of its branch is peroneal nerve while sitting crossed leg for long hours you may feel tingling and numbness in your legs. That's because peroneal nerve is getting compressed. Due to long term habit it may damage the nerve resulting in a permanent nubmess or foot drop.
